Decision made to keep St. Angela open as a Workplace School

The Calgary Catholic School District is delighted to inform the public that an exciting solution has been identified for the future of St. Angela that will keep the school as a central part of the community. The District will work collaboratively with the community to create St. Angela as a Workplace School.

Important Future Accommodation Information for Students Residing in the Somerset Community

Msgr. O’Brien is currently operating at or above their peak capacity with full portable classrooms on site and classroom settings in ancillary areas. Beginning September 2010, new elementary students registering from the Somerset community will be directed to Father Doucet School instead of Msgr. O’Brien School. Exceptions will be granted in the cases of students with siblings currently attending Msgr. O’Brien.

Single Gender Schools

The District has been in the process of exploring the viability of opening an all boys’ school and an all girls’ school for elementary grades in close proximity to one another. The District held community consultation meetings earlier this month to gauge the public's interest in this option.

St. Anthony celebrates District's 125th Anniversary with Events-Inventions-Music week

St. Anthony had a wonderful week of celebrating our District’s 125th Anniversary. Our theme for the week was Events-Inventions-Music for each 25 year period. The week was capped off with a “Back to the Past” Spirit Day where students and staff dressed in an outfit from the past.

Bishop Carroll student receives $18,000 scholarship and chance to meet the Prime Minister of Spain and Spain's royal family

Debbie Wang, student at Bishop Carroll High School, is Canada's recipient of the Ruta Quetzal Scholarship for the summer of 2010. The value of the scholarship is about $18,000.
